On the 14th day of October in the year nineteen hundred and eighty, the world was blessed (or cursed) with the presence of one Shane Michael Guymon. If by any chance you were having trouble figuring out what to buy a humble young boy from The Oak for such an occasion as spending 30 years on this old soil we like to call Earth then leave your worries behind. I have managed to put together a list of great gift ideas for such an occasion.

Back on Saturday May 23rd we had a swim party for Hannah. I made a website to send out as our invite, which I thought was a good idea. It was a way I could flex my design muscles at the world, and also what I felt was a conveniently simple way to both spread the word and allow people to have a constant reference to go refer to. We placed a “wish list” on their with links to the actual product or examples for the many times we get asked, “What does Hannah want for her birthday?” We also placed a very simple contact form to allow us to get a head count so we knew how much cake and drinks to supply.
The website didn’t seem to help with ANY of these things. Perhaps we sent it out too early, and maybe we should of shot out a second email blast as the date got closer, but then we didn’t want to seem like we were BEGGING people to come. Some people showed up that didn’t email (which we were still VERY happy you came!). Others emailed and didn’t show up. Everyone still asked the inevitable question, “What does Hannah want?” Oh well it was alot of fun to design, and I mainly did it for myself anyways.
The party was a HUGE success, not everyone showed up that we had hoped would be there (Grand Dad, Nana, Jacob, Caleb, Matt (Heather’s brother), Kari, Mark, Maile, Marrissa, & Michaela, Emily, Seth, & Asher) but everyone that did show up seemed to have a good time, and Hannah had a blast. We appreciated ALL of the presents, and the wonderful conversations and company. Hannah is still talking about her party!
So I know it’s late, but I finally got around to uploading ALL of the photos from the party so click on over to check them all out!
While I was gone in Dallas to play basketball with my brothers (which I played terrible, but had a good time) Heather & Hannah were invited to a birthday party for one of Hannah’s friends (Thanks Lucy Monson for inviting Hannah!). At the party their was a small petting zoo with a pony for all the kids to ride. When I imagined Hannah riding the pony, this is the exact expression I envisioned her having. Which also happens to be my favorite Hannah smile!*
*I think it’s better to see it in person, the camera has never seemed to capture it quite so well.
Heather will be turning 26 tomorrow, I’m not sure what is planned for the BIG day, but I do know one thing she is gathering a ton of FREE birthday gifts from various restaurants around town. I think she has joined EVERY mailing list for EVERY restaurant around our house, or at lease all of our favorites like:
Spicy Pickle, Red Robin, & Texas Roadhouse to name a few off the top of my head.
So let’s not forget to shower Heather with gifts, love, and LOT’S of comments on her blog!

Tuesday night I decided to stay up till 2:00 am designing a small website to help get the word out that their is this cute little girl living in our house that is turning 3 next month. So for the past month or so she is endlessly talking about her birthday party and how all of her friends are gonna come over, and they are gonna go swimming, and they are gonna eat cake! Last night when I got home from work she asked me if I wanted to come play birthday party with her in her room. So sure enough I squeezed myself into this small little princess tent we have set up in her room, and we pretended to eat cake and play, until my legs began to cramp and I got too claustrophobic and I had to break out.
Anyways so I actually designed a little invite, and the original plan (like always) was to actually mail those bad boys out to friends and family. However we are terrible at this, infact it’s quite embarrassing and Heather may kill me for saying this but we didn’t send out one single thank you card from our wedding. Also in the past I have designed a Christmas card every year since we have had Hannah, and also I believe I have made a birthday invite every year as well. It should be no surprise to any friends reading who didn’t recieve them because we never actually mailed them, instead we hand a few out and everyone else just receives an email or a phone call. So to change things up a bit, and the fact that we really want to know how many people are planning on showing up, so we REALLY need people to RSVP us, I designed this website with 40 something photos all taken through out this last year.
So click on the photo above or here, and check out the mini site, and if you are interested in celebrating another year of life while swimming and eating a little cake, then go ahead and RSVP via the contact form on the website.
I’m a little late but who cares I used vacation time from work and so I had a long weekend, I was off 4th to the 8th. July 4th we were invited over to a friends house with a bunch of other families with little kids for a bar-b-que. Hannah had a blast playing with everyone, the food was good, and they even had vanilla coke, and A & W Cream Soda. We ended that day shooting off small fire crackers in the front yard of the family hosting the party. The entire time I was like is it legal to shoot off fire works here or something. I let Hannah hold a sparkler, and shake it around and she enjoyed that. The rest of the time I was chasing her around in the heat while everyone else was watching the little fire works go off, and other kids continued to play with sparklers when coming up the street was two police officers, and they slowly came to a holt infront of the house. They calmly told everyone that they were illegal and that someone was going to have to recieve a ticket, and the rest of the fire crackers would be confiscated…
Thursday & Friday were spent relaxing around the house with the family. We watched a few movies, I played with Hannah, we made a few trips to the store and the mall, and that is about all I can remember.
Friday was my moms birthday, and Thursday night Mark had arrived in San Antonio. I wanted to get down there on Friday, but it didn’t pan out, and we ended up leaving for San Antonio Saturday morning when we woke up.
It was pretty awesome because almost my whole family was together, we were missing my sister Shauuna and her family. I can’t even remember the last time my entire family was all together, so having this many of them was a big treat. Kelly and her son Trevor (3) and daughter Lauren (1.45) had already been in town visiting for a week, Matt is living in San Antonio, and Ethan is still living with mom. Then Mark his wife Mo and their 3 daughters Maile (4) Michaela (2.5) Marissa (2.5) all had made the trip down, and then Me, Heather, and Hannah (2) showed up. It was a very full house to say the least. Hannah had a fabulouse time with all her cousins and uncles.
We left Sunday night around 7:30 after we ate some of Kelly’s delectable meat loaf, & letting Hannah swim with Trevor and Lauren in Kelly’s blow up pool in the back yard, and also letting Lauren and Hannah take a bath together.
Sadly we forgot our camera so no pictures or special moments were captured, for now all we have is the memories infused in our minds and hearts which hopefully can transcend time.
Movies Watched:
Black Snake Moan (intresting.)
Driving Lessons (Stars the red head from Harry Potter has a good Soundtrack, and it was a funny movie, also a good story.)
The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada (Disapointment.)
Blood Diamond (I really enjoyed this movie.)
The Groomsmen (Funny, sad, depressing, but ends happy. It should make you laugh a few times though!)
Fur (wierd.)
Little children (intresting way of telling the story through narration, it was intresting, a few wierd moments, a few moments where we were both laughing pretty hard, and other moments where I was worried, with suspence, the ending is a bit ho-hum, but it doesn’t end as a tragedy like I was worried it would.)
As many of you may know Hannah’s birthday is coming up next month, and so to commemorate such a wonderful occasion we have decided to put on a “Royal Celebration” all decked out in the latest and greatest Disney Princess attire with matching plates and cups to boot. The invitations are being mailed out to a select group of individuals which were specially designed by Yours Truely (Your One Stop Shop for all your design needs.)
There will even be a little goody bag to take home so not only does Hannah get to recieve gifts, but everyone gets a little something as they leave. We are hoping and praying for a sun filled day, because our plan is to have the party outside, as our apartment is truly fit for a King, it is not equiped for the entire kingdom…
Wheather depending you may want to bring a swimsuit as our kingdom is equipped with a very enticing pool. Stay tuned for other updates, to stay abrupt on all the latest and greatest news.
